NXP Microcontrollers designed the LPC2458FET180 microcontroller with a 16-bit/32-bit Arm7TDMI-S™ CPU core, a real-time debug interface, and the inclusion of JTAG and embedded tracing.The LPC2458 has an on-chip high-speed Flash memory of 512 kB. The Flash memory includes a special 128-bit wide memory interface and acceleration architecture that allows the CPU to execute sequential instructions in Flash memory at a system clock rate of up to 72 MHz, a feature available only on the LPC2000 Arm® family of microcontrollers.The LPC2458 can execute 32-bit Arm and 16-bit Thumb instructions. Support for both instruction sets means that engineers can choose to optimise application performance or code size at the subroutine level. The kernel is able to trade a small performance loss for over 30% code compression when executing instructions in the Thumb state, and maximise kernel performance when executing instructions in the Arm state.
