The MAX20049CATEA/VY are dual step-down converter ICs with two low dropout regulators (LDOs) that provide a single-chip solution for automotive cameras. The two buck converter designs operate in fixed frequency PWM mode with input voltages of 5V to 17V for the MAX20049, 4V to 17V for the MAX20049C, and 3.5V to 17V for the MAX20049D. Dedicated high-voltage inputs allow for flexible solutions.
The ICs provide voltage monitoring of all four output voltage rails. The power supply pulls down when an overvoltage or undervoltage is detected. To support long and inexpensive coaxial cables, the devices have 500mV SUP1 hysteresis. Both buck converters offer very short on-time and allow the use of a 17V input to produce a 0.9V output. High frequency operation allows the use of an all ceramic capacitor design, as well as small external components. Low resistance on-chip switches ensure high efficiency while minimising critical inductance.
