The TCA9511ADGKR is a hot-swappable I2C bus buffer that allows I/O cards to be inserted into a live backplane without damaging data and breaking clock lines. The control circuit prevents the backplane I2C line (input) from connecting to the board I2C line (output) (until a stop command or bus idle occurs on the backplane) without bus contention on the board. When a connection is established, the device provides bidirectional buffering so that the backplane and the board capacitor remain isolated.
