The LAN8831/Q2A Gigabit Ethernet transceiver (with GMII/MII/RGMII) is a fully integrated three-speed (10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T) Ethernet physical layer transceiver. The device is designed to send and receive data over standard CAT-5, CAT-5e, and CAT-6 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cables.

The LAN8831/Q2A Gigabit Ethernet transceiver provides industry-standard GMII/MII (Gigabit Media Independent Interface/Media Independent Interface) for connecting to a GMII/MII MAC in a Gigabit Ethernet processor for data transmission at 1000Mbps or 10/100Mbps. An optional RGMII (smaller Gigabit Media Independent Interface) mode is also available, enabling the LAN8831/Q2A to provide additional GPIOs.
