The TPS6302x devices provide power solutions for products powered by two- or three-cell alkaline, NiCd or NiMH, one-cell Li-Ion or Li-polymer, supercapacitors, or other power rails. Supports output current up to 3 A. When batteries are used, their discharge voltage can drop below 2 V. Buck-boost converters are based on fixed frequency, pulse width modulation (PWM) controllers that use synchronous rectification for maximum efficiency. At low load currents, the converter enters a power saving mode to maintain high efficiency over a wide load current range. Power save mode can be disabled, forcing the converter to operate at a fixed switching frequency. The maximum average current in the switch is limited to 4 A typical. The output voltage can be programmed using an external resistor divider, or fixed inside the chip. The converter can be disabled to minimize battery consumption. During shutdown, the load is disconnected from the battery.
The TPS6302x devices operate over a free air temperature range of –40°C to 85°C. The devices are available in a 14-pin VSON package measuring 3 mm × 4 mm (DSJ).
