The MAX25608BAUI/V12 Switch Matrix Manager IC for automotive lighting applications includes a 12-switch array for bypassing individual LEDs in single- or dual-string applications. 12 independently controlled n-channel MOSFET switches rated at 14 V with an on-resistance of 0.06 Ω. A single current source powers all LEDs in series. Individual LEDs can be dimmed by turning on and off the bypass switch on each LED. The device can also be configured as a dual string application with six series switches per string. Each switch can be connected in series with one, two, or three LEDs, and the device also allows two switches to be connected in parallel to bypass high-current LEDs. The ICs also include an internal charge pump to provide power for the gate drive of the LED bypass switches.
