The VIPER318HDTR is a high-voltage converter that intelligently integrates an 800 V avalanche-type power MOSFET and PWM current-mode control. The 800 V breakdown voltage enables a wider input voltage range while reducing the size of the DRAIN buffer circuit. This IC meets the most stringent energy efficiency standards due to its extremely low power consumption and operates in pulse frequency modulation mode under light load conditions. Overvoltage protection (OVP) and undervoltage protection (UVP) are provided on the OVP and UVP pins, respectively, with independently adjustable thresholds. UVP can also function as a disable input for the entire switching power supply (SMPS) and has ultra-low residual input power consumption. Integrated high-voltage startup, detection FET, error amplifier, and frequency jitter oscillator enable the design of a complete application with minimal component count. Supports flyback, buck, and buck-boost topologies.
