The ADM1293-1AACPZ are high-precision, integrated digital power monitors that use on-chip 12-bit analogue-to-digital converters (ADCs) for digital current, voltage, and power monitoring, and communicate via a PMBus-compatible I2C interface.

These devices obtain current readings by measuring the voltage difference across an external sense resistor. This voltage is amplified and digitised by an internal 12-bit ADC. The same ADC also samples the primary input voltage and the auxiliary input voltage. The internal digital module multiplies the current by the primary input voltage to calculate power supply parameters.The ADM1293-1AACPZ power monitor also provides a power accumulator for power metering. The industry-standard PMBus interface allows the host controller to read this data back from the device. The host controller can then combine this information with known detection resistor values to continuously obtain current, voltage, power, and energy consumption values on the monitored rails.

The ADM1293-1AACPZ device can generate microprocessor interrupt signals via the ALERT/GPO outputs during overcurrent, overvoltage/undervoltage, and overpower conditions. Thresholds for these conditions are digitally programmable via PMBus.
