The Marvell® Alaska® C 88X5123-A1-BVU4C000 is a high-performance Ethernet transceiver that performs all of the physical layer functions required to drive 100G, 50G, 40G, 25G, 10G, 5G, 2.5G, and 1G Ethernet over a variety of media, including optical, backplane, and passive copper cables.The Alaska C The 88X5123 is fabricated using 28 nanometer (nm) lithography in a 17mmx17mm 256-pin FCBGA small form factor package, enabling low-power, high-density 100GbE, 50GbE and 25GbE line card designs.
The 88X5123's line and host interfaces are fully compliant with the IEEE 802.3bj and IEEE 802.3by standards for 100Gb and 25Gb Ethernet operation. The device supports all FEC configurations specified in the IEEE 802.3bj and 802.3by standards and the 25/50G Ethernet Alliance. The device also supports auto-negotiation and coefficient training protocols required by the IEEE 802.3 and 25/50G Alliance specifications for dual-axis cable and backplane applications.
The device supports gearbox functionality from 40GBase-R2 to 40GBase-R4, enabling high-density 40GbE applications on switch ASICs with native 25G inputs/outputs. For applications that do not require FEC functionality, the device also supports a low-latency retimer mode where PCS and FEC-related functions are bypassed. In this mode, the 88X5123 supports holeless operation from 1.25Gbps to 28.05Gbps to support a variety of standards and rates. The device includes an internal PRBS generator and loopback to assist in testing and debugging. In addition, all high-speed I/Os support non-destructive eye monitoring.
