Product Description

The TPS62740DSSR is the industry's first buck converter to feature a typical quiescent current of 360nA and to operate with a miniature 2.2µH inductor and 10µF output capacitor. This new DCS-Control™ based device extends the light load efficiency range to below 10µA load current. The TPS62740 supports output currents of up to 300mA and operates from rechargeable Li-ion batteries, Li-ion chemistries such as Li-SOC12, Li-MnO2 and two or three alkaline batteries. With an input voltage range of up to 5.5V, operation from 1 USB port and a thin film solar module is also possible. The output voltage is user selectable from 1.8V to 3.3V (100mV steps) using the 4 VSEL pins. The TPS62740 features low output ripple voltage and low noise with the use of small output capacitors. Once the battery voltage approaches the output voltage (close to 100% duty cycle), the device enters ripple-free 100% mode operation to prevent an increase in output ripple voltage. The device then stops switching and the output is connected to the input voltage. The TPS62740 is available in a small 12-pin 2mm x 3mm2 WSON package and supports an overall solution size of 31mm2.
