The Texas Instruments AFE4900YZR ultra-low power integrated analogue front end (AFE) is designed for synchronous electrocardiogram (ECG) and photovascular volumetric map (PPG) signal acquisition. The synchronous PPG signal chain supports up to four switchable light emitting diodes (LEDs) and up to three photodiodes (PDs). A fully integrated LED driver controls the LEDs with currents of up to 200 mA. The photodiode currents are converted to voltages by a mutual impedance amplifier (TIA) and digitised using a digital-to-analogue converter (ADC). The same ADC connects the ECG signal chain with an instrumentation amplifier (INA) and programmable gain. the ECG input pins can be set via a right-hand drive (RLD) amplifier. the AFE4900 AC and DC lead-off detection solution. A FIFO block with 128 samples stores the ADC code from the PPG and ECG phases and can be read using the I2C or Serial Programming Interface (SPI) interface.
