Description:
IWRL1432 millimeter wave sensor device is an integrated single chip millimeter wave sensor based on FMCW radar technology. The device is capable of operating in the 76GHz to 81GHz band and is divided into four main power domains:
Rf/Analog subsystem: This block contains all the RF and analog components needed to send and receive RF signals.
Front-end Controller Subsystem (FECSS) : FECSS contains the processor responsible for radar front-end configuration, control, and calibration.
Application Subsystem (APPSS) : In APPSS, the device implements a user-programmable ARM Cortex M4 that allows custom control and automotive interface applications. The Top Subsystem (TOPSS) is part of the APPSS power domain and contains clock and power management subblocks.
Hardware Accelerator (HWA) : The HWA block complements the APPSS by offloading common radar processing such as FFT, constant false alarm rate (CFAR), scaling, and compression.
The IWRL1432 is specifically designed to control each of these power domains individually, so its state (power-on or power-off) can be controlled according to the use case requirements. The device also has the capability to run various low-power states, such as sleep and deep sleep, where the low-power sleep mode is achieved by clock gating and turning off the internal IP block of the device. The device also provides the option to retain certain contents of the device, such as application images or RF profiles that are retained in such cases.
