Mini-Circuits' XLF-272M reflectionless filter features a novel filter topology that internally absorbs and terminates the stopband signal rather than reflecting it back to the source. This new feature allows for a unique application of filter circuits beyond traditional methods. Conventional filters are reflective in the stopband, sending the signal back to the source at 100% power level. These reflections interact with neighbouring components, often producing intermodulation products and other interference. Reflectionless filters eliminate stopband reflections, allowing them to be paired with sensitive devices and used in applications where circuits such as isolation amplifiers or attenuators are required.
