The ISL9238, a rise and fall VDC battery charger with SMBus interface and USB OTG, is a rise and fall output voltage Direct current (NVDC) charger. The ISL9238C provides NVDC charging, system bus conditioning and protection for tablets, ultrabooks, laptops, mobile power supplies and any USB-C interface platform. Advanced Renesas R3™ technology provides high light-load efficiency and fast transient response.

In charging mode, the ISL9238C accepts input power from a variety of DC power sources, such as traditional AC/DC charger adapters, USB PD ports, and travel adapters, and uses up to four lithium batteries to safely charge the battery pack. As an NVDC topological charger, the ISL9238C can also adjust the system output to a narrow DC range for a stable system bus voltage.
