The LT3960JMSE is a powerful high-speed transceiver that extends a single-master I2C bus into harsh or noisy environments by using the CAN physical layer at speeds up to 400kbps. An LT3960 is located near the I2C host and creates an Equivalent Differential Bus (I2CAN) from SCL and SDA over two twisted pairs. At the other end of the twisted pair, a second LT3960 recreates the I2C bus locally for any slave I2C devices. The built-in 3.3 V LDO powers the I2C and I2CAN buses from a single 4 V to 60 V input supply. Alternatively, the LT3960 can be powered directly from a 3.3 V to 5 V supply.
