Overview

The MAX25203DATJA automotive dual-phase synchronous boost controller enables the infotainment system to remain regulated during cold start or start-stop operations until the battery input voltage drops to 1.8V. They can also be used to generate backlight voltages and Class D audio amplifier voltages. These devices can be started with an input voltage power supply ranging from 4.5V to 42V. After startup, they can operate at A voltage as low as 1.8V and have a low turn-off power supply current of 5μA.


The MAX25203DATJA operates at a frequency as high as 2.1MHz, allowing for the use of smaller external components and reducing output ripple, while ensuring no AM band interference. The switching frequency can be adjusted by a resistor (from 220kHz to 2100kHz), and it can also be synchronized instantly to an external clock.


The MAX25203DATJA features a spread spectrum option for frequency modulation, thereby minimizing EMI interference. The 90° out-of-phase clock output can synchronize the second MAX25203D to achieve four-phase operation.


When the power supply voltage exceeds the output regulation voltage, the efficiency of the direct operation exceeds 98%. Programmable current limit blanking can handle high-peak loads without the need for overly large inductors.


The MAX25203DATJA features a power readiness monitor and undervoltage locking function. The protection functions include weekly periodic flow value and thermal shutdown. These devices operate within the automotive temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
