For details
The DS1302Z is a clock chip with trickle charging, featuring a real-time clock/calendar and 31-byte static RAM. The DS1302Z communicates with the microprocessor through a simple serial interface. The real-time clock/calendar provides information on seconds, minutes, hours, days of the week, dates, months and years. For months with less than 31 days, the date at the end of the month will be automatically adjusted. DS1302Z includes corrections for leap years. The clock operates in 24-hour format or 12-hour format with AM/PM indicators.
In addition, by using synchronous serial communication, the interface between DS1302Z and the microprocessor has been simplified. Only three wires are needed to communicate with the clock /RAM: CE, I/O (data line), and SCLK (serial clock). When transmitting data between the clock /RAM, it can be one byte at a time or up to 31 bytes in a single burst. The DS1302Z has extremely low power consumption during operation and retains data and clock information with a power consumption of less than 1µW.
DS1302Z is the successor version of DS1202. In addition to the basic timing function of DS1202, DS1302Z also features other characteristics, including dual power pins for the main power supply and backup power supply, a programmable trickle charger for VCC1, and seven additional bytes of temporary memory.
Core features
Fully manage all timing functions
Real-time clocks can count in seconds, minutes, hours, dates, months, days of the week and years. Leap year compensation is valid until the year 2100
31 x 8 battery-powered universal RAM
Interface with most microcontrollers through a simple serial port
Simple 3-wire interface
TTL compatible (VCC = 5V)
Single-byte or multi-byte (burst mode) data transmission used for reading or writing clock or RAM data
Low-power operation can extend the operating time of the backup battery
It operates fully from 2.0V to 5.5V
The current consumption is less than 300nA at 2.0V
The 8-pin DIP and 8-pin SO packages significantly reduce the required space
Optional industrial temperature range: -40°C to +85°C, supporting operation in a variety of applications
