The ZMID5201AE1R uses the physical principles of coil induction and eddy current to detect the position of a metal target sliding or rotating above a coil group, which consists of one transmitting coil and two receiving coils. These three coils are usually printed on the printed circuit board (PCB) in the form of copper wires. Their arrangement causes the transmitting coil to induce a secondary voltage in the receiving coil, which depends on the position of the metal target above the coil. After demodulation and processing the secondary voltage from the receiving coil, a signal indicating the position of the metal target on the coil can be obtained. ZMID5201AE1R fully complies with the automotive standard AEC-Q100, Class 0, with a maximum ambient temperature of 150°C.
