The RTL8396M is a 24-port 10/100/1000m + 2-port 10G managed Ethernet MAC switch controller. It supports 6 pairs of 5 Gbps QSGMII connections to external 24 ports, gigabit Ethernet physical transceivers and supports 2 pairs of SFI connections to SFP+.

The RTL8396M is embedded with a MIPS-34Kc CPU with a frequency of up to 700 MHz. It supports a 32-bit data bus, 32 M bytes SPI flash memory (in 3-byte mode) or 64 MB SPI flash memory (in 4-byte mode), and 256MB bytes DDR 3 SDRAM(at maximum). It also embeds a 96 KB SRAM, which can be used for time-sensitive applications.
