The TJA1145T is a high-speed CAN transceiver that provides an interface between a Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol controller and a physical two-wire CAN bus. Designed specifically for high-speed CAN applications in the automotive industry, the transceiver provides the ability to send and receive differential signals to and from a CAN protocol controller (in a microcontroller).
With ultra-low power consumption in standby and sleep modes, the TJA1145T supports CAN local networking in accordance with the ISO 11898-6:2013 standard through the use of a selective wake-up function.
A dedicated implementation of the local networking feature is embedded in the TJA1145/FD products TJA1145T/FD and TJA1145TK/FD. This feature, called ‘FD-Passive’, ignores CAN FD frames while waiting for a valid wake-up frame in sleep/standby mode. This new local networking feature is a good choice if the network is to support both CAN FD and standard CAN 2.0 communication. During CAN FD communication, it allows normal CAN controllers that do not need to transmit CAN FD messages to remain in local networking sleep/standby mode without generating bus errors.
Advanced power management regulates power through the node and supports local and remote wake-up functions. the I/O levels are automatically adjusted to the controller's I/O levels, allowing the TJA1145 to be directly connected to 3.3 V-5 V microcontrollers. An SPI interface is provided for performing transceiver control and retrieving status information. The bus connection becomes a true floating connection when power is removed.
