These devices are part of the LPC5500 MCU family, featuring cost-effective 40nm NVM process technology with pin, software and peripheral compatibility for ease of use and reduced time-to-market. The family is supported by NXP's comprehensive support package, which includes MCUXpresso software and tools, as well as low-cost development boards.

The LPC5528JBD100Y offers a wide range of connectivity options, including high-speed USB with on-chip PHY, high-speed SPI, SDIO and the popular FlexComm interface (configurable as SPI/I2C/I2S, UART). Security features include SRAM Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) for trusted rooting and configuration, hardware symmetric encryption/decryption engine, secure debugging, and PRINCE engine for real-time execution of encrypted images.
