The LTM4656IY-1 is a complete and efficient μModule® (power module) boost regulator with switching controller, power FETs, inductors and all supporting components. Only one input and output capacitor is required. Operating over an input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V, the LTM4656IY-1 supports an output voltage range of 6V to 36V set by a single external resistor. Its high efficiency design provides up to 5A continuous output current. A series protection circuit sets the maximum input current, which if exceeded cuts off the input power and then retries (see Typical Applications section of the datasheet).

The high density boost design can convert up to 180 W of output power.

Fail-safe features include over-temperature protection and over-current protection inputs associated with auto-retry. The μmodule power module is available in a space-saving, thermally enhanced 16mm × 16mm × 7.07mm BGA package, and the LTM4656IY-1 is a RoHS-compliant, lead-free product.
