The LTC9111RDE is a single pair IEEE 802.3cg compliant Power over Ethernet Powered Device (PD) controller. a wide operating range of 2.3V to 60V combined with polarity correction makes the LTC9111 particularly suitable for classification based systems in building and factory automation applications.

The SCCP based classification ensures that the Power Supply Equipment (PSE) provides full operating voltage only when a valid PD is connected. the LTC9111 minimises storage capacitor requirements during classification using micropower operation and can drive two external N-channel MOSFET switches. The external N-channel MOSFET switches isolate the output capacitor from the connector during classification and in the event of a surge. The voltage monitor enables the external MOSFETs when the PD input voltage exceeds the ON voltage threshold of the configured class or after a forced delay. the EN output is asserted after a ramp up of the controlled GATE pin. The LTC9111 uses a low start-up voltage of 1.6V to drive a pair of external low-end N-channel MOSFETs for polarity correction, reducing power loss.
