The F28M36H53B2ZWTQ real-time control subsystem is based on Texas Instruments' 32-bit C28x DSP cores, each of which delivers 200 MIPS of signal processing performance for floating-point or fixed-point code running from on-chip flash or SRAM. This is equivalent to 400 MHz of processing power for a Cortex®-M7-based device (the C28x DSP cores deliver twice the performance of the Cortex®-M7.) The C28x CPUs further enhance performance with the Triangulation Mathematics Unit (TMU) and VCRC (Verbatim Cyclic Redundancy Check) extended instruction set, speeding up commonly used algorithms that are critical to real-time control systems.
