The MagAlpha™ MA800GQ 8-position non-contact angle sensor is designed to replace analogue potentiometers or rotary switches.The MA800 sensor detects the absolute angular position of a permanent magnet on a rotating shaft. Because measurements are made over a spatial range, the user has the flexibility to choose the magnet shape and configuration.The MA800 is typically used with magnetised cylinders with diameters ranging from 3mm to 8mm.

The MA800GQ has programmable magnetic field strength thresholds that enable push-button functionality. These thresholds can be read via register bits or used as output signals.

On-chip non-volatile memory stores configuration parameters including reference zero angle position and magnetic field detection thresholds.
