Product Description

The LTM2889IY-5 is a complete current-isolated controller local area network (CAN) μModule® (mini-module) transceiver. It requires no external components, and a single power supply feeds both sides of the interface through an integrated isolated DC/DC converter. Separate versions are available for 3.3V and 5V supplies. Dual voltage CAN transceivers and adjustable regulators provide 3.3V or 5V isolated power supplies using either the 3.3V or 5V version.


A coupled inductor and isolated power transformer provide 2500VRMS of isolation between the line transceiver and the logic interface. The device is ideally suited for ground loop disconnected systems, allowing a large common-mode voltage range. For common mode transients greater than 30kV/μs, uninterrupted communication is maintained.


The transceiver supports up to 4Mbps CAN with flexible data rates (CAN FD). The logic power pin can be easily connected to different logic levels from 1.62V to 5.5V independent of the mains supply. Enhanced ESD protection allows the device to withstand up to ±25kV human body modelling (HBM) on the transceiver interface pins and ±10kV HBM on the isolation gate without latch-up or damage.
