The MLX91217LVA-ACZ-000-RE is part of a 2.5 generation high-speed current sensor product family aimed at inverter/converter applications. This current sensor measures current in the range of ±50A to ±5000A using conventional Hall effect technology (using an external ferromagnetic core to concentrate the signal). The magnetic flux density within the air gap of the ferromagnetic core is measured using embedded Hall effect technology and amplified to a fast analogue output proportional to 5V full scale. This novel CMOS Hall effect sensor offers a variety of factory calibrated offset, sensitivity and filter settings, but can be reprogrammed by the customer using the Melexis programming device PTC-04.

The current sensor's SIP4-VA package allows the sensing element to be inserted into a tight slot in the ferromagnetic core, and the sensor leads are available in a variety of adjustments and routing options, giving designers greater flexibility for mechanical integration and assembly.
