The ACS711KEXLT-30AU provides an economical and accurate solution for AC or DC current sensing in <100 V audio, communication systems and large home appliance applications. The device is packaged for user-friendly applications. Typical applications include circuit protection, current monitoring, and motor and inverter control.
The device contains a linear Hall sensor integrated circuit with a copper current path near the surface of the wafer. Current applied through the copper current path generates a magnetic field that can be sensed by the integrated Hall IC and converted into a proportional voltage. Device accuracy is optimised by placing the magnetic signal close to the Hall sensor.
The slope of the device output is proportional to the current from IP+ to IP (pins 1 and 2 to pins 3 and 4). The conduction path, with internal resistances of 0.6 mΩ (EX package) and 1.2 mΩ (LC package), provides a non-invasive measurement interface for applications requiring energy savings.
Although the termination of the current path is insulated from the sensor IC leads, the ACS711KEXLT-30AU is well suited for low-end current-sensing applications, providing sufficient internal creepage and isolation for low AC or DC operating voltage applications. The copper wire thickness allows the device to operate at up to 5x overcurrent.
The ACS711KEXLT-30AU is available in a small surface mount package: QFN12. The pin frame is 100% matte tin plated for compatibility with standard lead-free printed circuit board assembly processes. The device is internally Pb-free with the exception of the current RoHS-exempt high-temperature Pb-containing solder balls used in the flip-chip method. The device is fully calibrated prior to factory shipment. The new package is an automotive-grade, solder-touchable flanking QFN that is solder-testable and easy for customers to implement. Typical applications include circuit protection, current monitoring, and motor and inverter control.
