The CC3120R device is part of the SimpleLink™ microcontroller (MCU) platform, which includes Wi-Fi®, low-power Bluetooth®, Sub-1GHz devices and a host MCU, all sharing a common, easy-to-use development environment with a single-core software development kit (SDK) and a rich set of tools. With a single integrated SimpleLink™ platform, any combination of devices from the portfolio can be added to your design, enabling 100% code reuse when design requirements change.
Connect any microcontroller (MCU) to the Internet of Things (IoT) with the CC3120R device from Texas Instruments (TI)™. The Wi-Fi Alliance® certified CC3120R devices are part of the second generation SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi® family of solutions, greatly simplifying the implementation of low-power Internet connectivity. The CC3120R supports all Wi-Fi and Internet protocols implemented in ROM and runs on a dedicated on-chip Arm® network processor, greatly reducing the strain on the host MCU and simplifying system integration.
The CC3120R Wi-Fi® Internet-on-a chip™ device contains a dedicated Arm® MCU, reducing much of the networking activity of the host MCU. The subsystem includes an 802.11b/g/n radio, baseband and MAC with a powerful encryption engine that uses 256-bit encryption for fast, secure Internet connectivity.
The CC3120R device supports base station, access point and Wi-Fi Direct modes. The device also supports WPA2™ Personal and Enterprise security as well as WPA3™ Personal and Enterprise. The device includes embedded TCP/IP and TLS/SSL stacks, HTTP servers and multiple Internet protocols. The CC3120R device supports a variety of Wi-Fi configuration methods including Access Point Mode based HTTP, SmartConfig™ technology and WPS2.0.
