Qualcomm has failed to deliver on its promise to beat Apple's self-made chip, Apple Silicon, by 2022, and that promise may be delayed until 2024, the company said on March 1.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Qualcomm's CEO and president said Qualcomm is exploring innovations that could benchmark Apple's Apple Silicon.


Part of the interview reads: "At this point, we haven't announced a design, but we have some challenges with our SoCs and custom CPUs, much like Apple did with the Microsoft ecosystem".


When asked by the Wall Street Journal when the chip, which is benchmarked against Apple's Apple Silicon, would be available, Ammon initially answered "September-October". When pressed, Ammon said: "Some of the devices with the chip will be available in 2023, and you will see more new products at CES 2024".
