Xiaomi today announced that the Xiaomi 13 series, Redmi K60 Pro and Xiaomi 10 Gigabit router will soon be upgraded with a new generation of Wi-Fi 7.
In response, Xiaomi's Founder, Chairman and CEO said in a post that Wi-Fi 7 is a huge upgrade for the mobile industry and allows users to experience a groundbreaking new Wi-Fi experience with the addition of several technologies to achieve higher speeds, more stability, lower latency and wider coverage across the board.
According to the introduction, Wi-Fi 7 introduces the new MLO (Multi-Link Operation) chip-level multi-connection technology, which allows the phone to select two signal channels at once and transmit data at high speed simultaneously.
According to Xiaomi data, the Xiaomi 13 can achieve 2.4GHz + 5GHz dual-band concurrently, reaching a transmission speed of 3.6Gbps. The Xiaomi 13 Pro, on the other hand, is capable of 5GHz + 5GHz dual-band concurrency and can reach up to 4.3Gbps when combined with the Xiaomi 10GbE router.
Meanwhile, Wi-Fi 7 not only enables dual connections, but also automatically detects transmission quality and prioritises the channel with lower latency, reducing average latency by 28% compared to the previous generation of Wi-Fi.
In terms of interference immunity, when interference occurs in a channel, although it does not make up the full 160MHz bandwidth, Wi-Fi 7 makes full use of the remaining available channels to maximise bandwidth and increase network speed without wasting lane resources as was the case with Wi-Fi 6.
