TP-Link has recently launched the "worlds first" Wi-Fi 7 router, based on the upcoming IEEE specification.

On November 15, TP-Link recently launched the BE900, the "world's first" Wi-Fi 7 router based on the upcoming IEEE specification, priced at $699.99 (about RMB 4,970). The company is also actively expanding its Wi-Fi 7 product line, including its main Archer router series, the Deco product for whole-home coverage, and many other products for business environments.


The BE900 is shaped like a mini mainframe, with an LED light grid and a touchscreen that displays information such as the clock, weather, wireless status lights and even emoji emojis.


In terms of basics, the quad-band design (dual 6GHz bands) offers two 10GbE hybrid ports, four 2.5G LAN ports and one Gigabit LAN port, plus the luxury of USB 2.0/3.0 Type-A.


Officially, the BE900 offers peak speeds of up to 24Gbps, which falls short of the theoretical 40Gbps of Wi-Fi 7, but is more than double that of the current Wi-Fi 6/6E.


Priced at $699.99, the Archer BE900 is available for pre-order on December 31 and will ship in the first quarter of next year.


Wi-Fi 7 is understood to be very much improved compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E, including 320MHz bandwidth, 4096 QAM modulation, Multi-RU, MLO multi-connection operation, etc. MLO means that users can connect to two Wi-Fi hotspots at the same time, such as 2.4G+5G, 5G+5G, 5G+6G, etc., dramatically improving throughput and reducing latency.


It should be noted that the Wi-Fi 7 standard has not yet been officially approved by the IEEE, so the relevant routing, mobile phones, laptops, etc. will be commercially available next year at the earliest and enter the popularisation period in 2025.
