[Application] The LP5867YBHR is a high-performance 7 × 6 LED matrix driver.
The LP5867YBHR is a high performance LED matrix driver.Six constant current wells with N (N = 7) switching MOSFETs are integrated to support N 6 LED dots or N 2 RGB LEDs.
introduction
Electronic devices are becoming smarter and need to use more leds to provide animation and indication functions, so a high-performance LED matrix driver is needed to improve the user experience with a small size solution.
Product Description:
The LP5867YBHR is a high-performance LED matrix driver. The device integrates six constant current traps with N (N = 7) switching MOSFETs to support N x 6 LED points or N x 2 RGB leds. The LP5867 integrates seven MOSFETs to support up to 42 LED points or 14 RGB leds.
The LP5867 supports both analog dimming and PWM dimming methods. For analog dimming, each LED point can be adjusted with 256 steps. For PWM dimming, an integrated 8-bit or 16-bit configurable PWM generator enables smooth and noise-free dimming control. Each LED point can also be arbitrarily mapped to an 8-bit group PWM for common dimming control.
The LP5867 device implements a complete addressable SRAM, which minimizes data traffic. Integrated ghost cancellation circuit to eliminate up and down ghost. The LP5867 also supports LED open and short circuit detection. The LP5867 supports both 1MHz (maximum) I2C and 12MHz (maximum) SPI.
Features
• LED matrix topology:
- 6 constant current traps, each with 7 scan switches, can support 42 LED points
- You can configure 1 to 7 scan switches
• Operating voltage range:
VCC/VLED range: 2.7V to 5.5V
- Logic pins are compatible with 1.8V, 3.3V and 5V voltages
• 6 high precision constant current Wells:
- When VCC ≥ 3.3V, the current of each current trap is 0.1mA-50mA
- Inter-device error: ±3% when the channel current = 50mA
- Inter-channel error: ±3% when the channel current is 50mA
- Phase shift balances transient power consumption
• Ultra-low power consumption:
- Off mode: When EN = low voltage, ICC ≤ 1μA
- Standby mode: When EN = high and CHIP_EN = 0 (data reserved), ICC ≤ 10μA
- Working mode: ICC = 4.2mA (typical value) when channel current = 5mA
• Flexible dimming options:
- Individual on/off control for each LED point
- Analog dimming (current gain control)
• Provides global 7-step maximum current (MC) Settings for all LED points
• 3 sets of 7-bit color current (CC) RGB Settings
• Provide a separate 8-site current (DC) setting for each LED point
- PWM dimming at frequencies that are inaudible to noise
• Global 8-bit PWM dimming for all LED points
• Implement 3 sets of programmable 8-bit PWM dimming for arbitrary mapping of LED points
• Implement separate 8-bit or 16-bit PWM dimming for each LED point
• Complete addressable SRAM to minimize data traffic
• Open/short circuit detection for each LED point
• Provides ghost cancellation and low brightness compensation
• Interface options:
- When IFS = Low voltage, the I2C interface is used at 1MHz (maximum)
- If IFS = high power, the SPI interface is used at 12MHz (maximum)
Applications
• LED animation and instructions for:
- Portable electronics
- Wearable
- Internet of Things (IoT)
