Shenzhen Mingjiada Electronics Co., Ltd. sells new and original Microchip Ethernet products The KSZ9897STXI 7-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with SGMII/RGMII/MII/RMII support is a highly integrated, IEEE 802.3-compliant network device that integrates a Layer 2 managed Gigabit Ethernet switch, five It integrates a Layer 2 managed Gigabit Ethernet switch, five 10BASE-Te/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T physical layer transceivers (PHYs) and associated MAC units, and two individually configurable MAC ports (one SGMII interface, one RGMII/MII/RMII interface) for connecting directly to a host processor/controller, another Ethernet switch, or an Ethernet PHY transceiver. The SGMII ports have two modes of operation: SerDes mode (supporting 1000BASE-X fibre) and SGMII mode.


The KSZ9897S is based on industry-leading Ethernet technology with features designed to offload host processing and simplify the overall design:

• Non-blocking wire-speed Ethernet switch fabric supports 1 Gbps on RGMII

• Full-featured forwarding and filtering control, including port-based Access Control List (ACL) filtering

• Full VLAN and QoS support

• Traffic prioritization with per-port ingress/egress queues and by traffic classification

• Spanning Tree support

• IEEE 802.1X access control support


The host processor can access all registers of the KSZ9897S to control all PHY, MAC and switch functions. All registers can be accessed through the integrated SPI or I2C interfaces, and in-band management is available through any of the data ports.PHY register access is provided by the MIIM interface. Flexible digital I/O voltages allow the MAC port to connect directly to a 1.8/2.5/3.3V host processor/controller/FPGA.

• IEEE802.3x full-duplex flow control and half-duplex back pressure collision control

• IGMPv1/v2/v3 snooping for multicast packet filtering

• IPv6 multicast listener discovery (MLD) snooping

• QoS/CoS packets prioritization support: 802.1p, DiffServ-based and re-mapping of 802.1p priority field per-port basis on four priority levels

• IPv4/IPv6 QoS support

• Programmable rate limiting at ingress and egress ports

• Broadcast storm protection

• Four priority queues with dynamic packet mapping for IEEE802.1p, IPv4 DIFFSERV, IPv6 TrafficClass

• MAC filtering function to filter or forward unknown unicast, multicast and VLAN packets

• Self-address filtering for implementing ring topologies 

• High-speed SPI (4-wire, up to 50MHz) interface to access all internal registers

• I2C Interface to access all registers

• MII management (MIIM, MDC/MDIO 2 wire) interface to access all PHY registers per IEEE 802.3 specification

• In-band management to access all registers via any of the seven ports, strap enabled

• I/O pin strapping facility to set certain register bits from I/O pins at reset time 

• Control registers configurable on-the-fly

• Port mirroring/monitoring/sniffing: ingress and/or egress traffic to any port or MII/RMII

• MIB counters for fully-compliant statistics gathering (34 MIB counters per port)

• Full-chip software power-down

• Energy detect power-down (EDPD)

• Wake on LAN (WoL) support
