The LMG3522R050RQSR GaN FET features integrated driver and protection for switch-mode power converters, allowing designers to achieve higher levels of power density and efficiency.
The LMG3522R050 integrates a silicon driver to achieve switching speeds of up to 150V/ns. TI's integrated precision gate bias enables a higher switching SOA than discrete silicon gate drivers. This integrated feature, combined with TI's low-inductance packaging technology, provides clean switching and ultra-small ringing in hard switching power supply topologies. The adjustable gate drive strength allows the voltage swing rate to be controlled between 15V/ns and 150V/ns, which can be used to actively control EMI and optimize switching performance.
Advanced power management features include digital temperature reporting and fault detection. The temperature of the GaN FETs is reported via a variable duty cycle PWM output, which simplifies device load management. Reported failures include overheating, overcurrent, and UVLO monitoring.
