TDK Corporation has launched the EPCOS InsuGate series SMT gate driver transformer, which is compatible with a system operating voltage of DC 1000V, significantly expanding the product lineup of this series. The order code for the new component is B78541A25, which complies with the basic insulation requirements of IEC 61558-1/2-16 standard. It provides a more compact gate drive design for the full-bridge inverter module, especially suitable for applications with higher insulation requirements such as electric vehicles and industry. By adopting a triple insulated winding structure on the skeleton and combining it with MnZn ferrite cores, the space occupied on the board has been optimized while ensuring the high-frequency switching function, high reliability and high insulation performance.

This new component, which is compatible with 1 kV insulation, measures 13.85 x 10.5 x 9.2 mm (length x width x height). Compared with the traditional gate single drive transformer of the same insulation grade, it can reduce the board space occupied by approximately 30%. Within the operating temperature range (up to +150 °C), its inductance vs. temperature curve is flat, with a nominal inductance of 75 µH and a coupling capacitance of only 4 pF. It is highly suitable for fast-switching IGBTs and SiC devices. In addition, we can also provide SPICE models upon customer request.

This series of components has been certified by AEC-Q200 Rev.E and has undergone extended mechanical vibration tests in compliance with AQG 324 requirements based on standard Eurocard PCB boards, verifying their durability in powertrain modules. Its partial discharge extinction voltage is ≥ 1.2kV (Vpeak), meeting the enhanced insulation requirements of AC 300V. It has passed a 60-second 3 kV (AC) high-voltage test, providing a reliable electrical isolation solution for the next generation of power electronic equipment.
