Overview

The AD9209BBPZRL-4G is a 12-bit four-channel 4 GSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The ADC input has an on-chip wideband buffer with overload protection. The suite is designed to support applications where broadband signals up to 8 GHz can be directly sampled. On-chip low-phase-noise phase-locked loop (PLL) clock frequency synthesizers can be used to generate ADC sampling clocks, simplifying printed circuit board (PCB) distribution of high frequency clock signals. The clock output buffer can be used to transfer ADC sampling clocks to other kits.


The bit error rate (CER) of a quad-core ADC core is better than 1 × 10−20. Low latency fast detection and signal monitoring can be used for automatic gain control (AGC) purposes. The flexible 192-tap programmable finite Impulse Response filter (PFIR) can be used for digital filtering and/or equalization. Programmable integer and fractional delay modules support compensation for analog delay mismatches.


The digital signal processing (DSP) module consists of two rough digital downconverters (DDCS) and four fine DDCS for each ADC pair. Each ADC can operate with one or two main DDC stages to support multi-band applications. Four additional fine DDC stages support up to four bands per ADC. The 48-bit numerically controlled oscillator (NCO) associated with each DDC supports fast frequency hopping (FFH) while synchronizing with up to 16 unique frequency assignments selected via Universal Input and Output (GPIOx) pins or serial port interfaces (SPI).


The AD9209 supports one or two JTx links that can be configured for JESD204B or JESD204C subclass operations, providing a different data path configuration for each ADC. Multi-suite synchronization is supported with SYSREF± input pins.
