New automotive-grade current sensing resistors comply with AEC-Q200 standards and are designed for applications requiring small size, high precision resistance values and resistance tolerance.

17 July 2025 - Bourns, a globally renowned leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, has announced the expansion of its AEC-Q200-compliant automotive-grade CRF series current sensing resistors with the introduction of a new product featuring a compact SMD 2010 package. The CRF2010 model designed by Bourns is intended to meet the demand for small size, high precision resistance values, and resistance tolerance in applications such as battery management systems (BMS), switch-mode power supplies (SMPS), motor control, electric vehicle (EV) onboard power current control, inverter phase current detection, and robotics current control.

Additionally, Bourns has introduced the CRF2512 model, a high-power 3 W version of the current sensing resistor in a 2512 package size. This product also complies with the AEC-Q200 standard, featuring resistance values as low as 0.0003 ohms and inductance values below 5 nH, making it an ideal choice for applications such as power supplies, stepper motor drivers, and input amplifiers.

The new CRF2010 model supports 1% and 5% resistance tolerances, with a fixed ±50 ppm/°C temperature coefficient (TCR), and a resistance range from 1 mΩ to 50 mΩ, also with a ±50 ppm/°C TCR. This series also offers an excellent 1.5 W power rating while maintaining a compact size design. Additionally, its metal film structure enables smaller and thinner package sizes, and provides enhanced surge energy withstand capability compared to standard 2010-size resistors, further enhancing automotive-grade reliability in demanding applications.

Bourns® CRF2010 and CRF2512 series high-power current sensing resistors are now available. The entire series complies with RoHS* standards and can be ordered through Bourns-authorised distributor partners.
