The LTC4370CDE is a dual power current sharing controller with an integrated MOSFET ideal diode. These diodes are responsible for isolating the reverse current and through current during startup and fault conditions. Its forward voltage can be adjusted to share the load current between power supplies. Unlike other current-sharing methods, the LTC4370CDE does not require a shared bus or pin trimming on the power supply.
The maximum MOSFET voltage drop can be set using a resistor. Fast gate connection reduces the load voltage drop during power switching. In the event of a fault or short circuit in the input power supply, a rapid shutdown can suppress the reverse current transient to the greatest extent.
The LTC4370CDE controller can operate within a power supply range of 2.9V to 18V. For a lower power rail voltage, an external power supply needs to be connected to the VCC pin. The enable input can be used to turn off the MOSFET and place the controller in a low-current state. The status output is responsible for indicating whether the MOSFET is in the on or off state. The load sharing function can be disabled to turn the LTC4370CDE into a dual-channel ideal diode controller.
