Overview

The ADA4960-1ACPZ is a high-performance differential amplifier that has been optimized for RF and mid-frequency applications. At a maximum frequency of 500 MHz, the spurious dynamic range (SFDR) is better than 63 dB. At a maximum frequency of 1 GHz, SFDR outperforms 52 dB, making it an ideal driver for high-speed 8-bit to 10-bit gigabit sampling analog-to-digital converters (ADCs).


Unlike other wideband differential amplifiers, the ADA4960-1ACPZ features a buffered input that can isolate the gain setting resistor (RG) from the signal input. Therefore, for gains ranging from 6 dB to 15 dB, the ADA4960-1ACPZ can maintain a constant 10 kΩ differential input resistance, thereby reducing the requirements for matching and input drive. This device has a differential output resistor with a nominal value of 150 Ω.


At frequencies of 1 GHz and above, the ADA4960-1ACPZ features high wideband and low distortion performance. These characteristics, along with its wide gain regulation capability, make it an ideal amplifier for general mid-frequency and wideband applications that have strict requirements for low distortion, low noise and low power consumption.


The ADA4960-1ACPZ also includes a unit gain buffer for buffering DC signals such as the common-mode input of the amplifier. This buffer is located between pin 6 (input) and pin 5 (output). If this buffer is not used, the output can be disconnected and the input can be grounded.


It is not only highly suitable for driving ADCs, but also for driving mixers, diode attenuators, SAW filters, multi-component discrete devices, and buffering high-frequency Dacs. The ADA4960-1ACPZ is available in a 3mm × 3mm, 16-pin LFCSP package (single-channel version). The operating temperature range is from -40 °C to +105°C.
