The TRF7970ARHBR has the following characteristics:

Support the Near Field Communication (NFC) standards NFCIP-1 (ISO/IEC18092) and NFCIP-2 (ISO/IEC 21481)

• Fully integrated protocol processing of the following standards: ISO/IEC 15693, ISO/IEC 18000-3, ISO/IEC 14443A and B, and FeliCa™

Integrated encoder, decoder and data frame grouping functions, suitable for NFC initiator operation mode and active and passive target operation mode, applicable to all three bit rates (106kbps, 212kbps, 424kbps) and card emulation

The simulation of NFC passive transponder is achieved by using a radio frequency field detector with a programmable wake-up level

Avoid NFC physical collisions through a radio frequency field detector

• Achieve ISO/IEC 14443 A collision prevention (broken bytes) (transponder simulation or NFC passive target) through the integrated state machine

Description

The TRF7970ARHBR device is an integrated analog front-end (AFE) and multi-protocol data group frame device for 13.56MHz NFC/RFID systems, supporting all three NFC working modes: Read/write mode, peer-to-peer mode and card emulation mode It complies with standards such as ISO/IEC 14443 A and B, Sony FeliCa, ISO/IEC 15693, NFCIP-1 (ISO/IEC 18092) and NFCIP-2 (ISO/IEC 21481). The TRF7970ARHBR features built-in programming options, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in NFC, approach and proximity recognition systems.


The TRF7970ARHBR device supports a data rate of up to 848kbps for all frame formation and synchronization tasks that comply with the on-board ISO protocol. The TRF7970ARHBR device also supports reader modes for NFC forum tag types 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Other standards or even custom protocols can be implemented by using one of the direct modes provided by this device. These direct modes enable users to have full control over the AFE and also access the original subcarrier data or unframed but ISO format data and related (extracted) clock signals.


Communication between the MCU and the TRF7970ARHBR device can be carried out using SPI or parallel interfaces. When using the built-in hardware encoder and decoder, the sending and receiving functions use a 127-byte FIFO register. For the direct sending or receiving function, since the encoder or decoder can be bypassed, the MCU can process data in real time.


The TRF7970ARHBR device supports a wide power supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V and a data communication level of 1.8V to 5.5V for the MCU I/O interface.


When using a 5V power supply, the transmitter has an optional output power level of 100mW (+20dBm) or 200mW (+23dBm) equivalent for a 50Ω load, and supports OOK and ASK modulation with optional modulation depth.
