DLP Chipsets

DLP chipsets typically include a DMD, a controller, and a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) driver, enabling higher graphics rates and superior image quality. Chipset designs are made possible by TI's extensive knowledge of how to reliably drive micromirrors under a variety of operating conditions. Chipsets can also be synchronised with external sensors, cameras, motors or other devices.

How does DLP technology work?

DLP technology is centred on digital micromirror devices (DMDs), which are a set of individually addressable, highly reflective aluminium micromirrors.DMDs enable developers to perform spatial light modulation quickly, efficiently and reliably. Using TI's proven semiconductor manufacturing technology, each DMD contains up to 8 million individually controlled micromirrors built on corresponding CMOS memory cells.

DMDs can be paired with visible LEDs, lasers, or lamp illumination for display, and can also support UV or IR wavelengths for light control applications. Synchronise light sources and micromirrors for projected output.
