The LP5892QRRFRQ1 is an automotive LED matrix driver ‌ with 48 current source channels and 32 scanning capabilities for common cathode LED matrices.

Its main characteristics:

• Compliant with the EC-Q100 standard and suitable for automotive applications:

-Temperature grade 1: -40 °C to 125°C, TA

• Independent VCC and VR/G/B power supplies

-VCC voltage range: 2.5V - 5.5V

-VR /G/B voltage range: 2.5V - 5.5V

• 48 current source channels from 0.2mA to 40mA

- Inter-channel accuracy: ±0.5% (typical value), ±3% (maximum value); Device-to-device accuracy: ±0.5% (typical value), ±2.5% (maximum value)

- Low inflection point voltage: When IOUT = 5mA, 0.27V (maximum value)

- 3-bit (8-level) global brightness control

- 8-bit (256-level) color brightness control

- Up to 16-bit (65,536-level) PWM grayscale control

• 16 scanner line switches, with RDS (ON) of 190mΩ

• Ultra-low power consumption

-Independent VCC as low as 2.5V

- The minimum ICC is as low as 3.6mA and it has 50MHz GCLK

- Intelligent power-saving mode, ICC as low as 0.9mA

• Built-in SRAM, supporting 1-64 multiplexing

-A single device supports 48 × 16 leds or 16 × 16 RGB pixels

- Dual devices can be stacked to support 96 × 32 leds or 32 × 32 RGB pixels

• High Speed and low EMI Continuous Clock Series Interface (CCSI)

Product Introduction

The LP5892QRRFRQ1 is a highly integrated common cathode matrix LED display driver featuring 48 constant current sources and 16 scanning FETs. One LP5892-Q1 supports driving 16 × 16 RGB pixels, and two LP5892-Q1 devices support driving 32 × 32 RGB pixels. To achieve low power consumption, this device supports independent power supplies for red, green and blue leds through its common cathode structure. In addition, the ultra-low operating voltage range (Vcc as low as 2.5V) and ultra-low operating current (Icc as low as 3.6mA) of LP5892QRRFRQ1 significantly reduce the operating power.


The LP5892QRRFRQ1 implements a high-speed rising edge transmission interface to support a high number of device Daisy chains and high refresh rates, while minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI) to the greatest extent. The LP5892QRRFRQ1 supports up to 50MHz SCLK (external) and up to 160MHz GCLK (internal). Meanwhile, this device integrates enhanced circuits and intelligent algorithms to address various display challenges in narrow pixel pitch (NPP) LED display applications as well as Mini and micro-LED products: The dimming of the first scan line, double images at the top and bottom, unevenness in low gray scale, coupling, and caterpillars caused by open or short circuits in the LED make the LP5892QRRFRQ1 the perfect choice for such applications.


The LP5892QRRFRQ1 can also perform LED open circuit/weak short circuit/short circuit detection and removal during operation, and can report this information to the accompanying digital processor.
