To meet the growing demand for high-performance, math-intensive applications across industries, Microchip Technology Inc. Officially released the PIC32A series MCU. The product expands the company's robust 32-bit MCU product line to provide cost-effective, high-performance, universal solutions for the automotive, industrial, consumer, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) and medical markets.
The 32-bit PIC32A MCU features a 200 MHz CPU with integrated high-speed analog peripherals designed to significantly reduce the need for external components. Features include a 12-bit ADC up to 40 Msps, a 5-nanosecond high-speed comparator, and a 100 MHz gain bandwidth product (GBWP) operational amplifier for smart edge sensing. These features, combined with a high-performance CPU, enable multitasking on a single MCU, optimizing system cost and bill of materials (BOM).
In addition, integrated hardware security features include error correction codes (ECC) for flash and RAM, in-memory self-testing (MBIST), I/O integrity monitoring, clock monitoring, immutable secure boot, and flash access control to provide a secure execution environment for software code in embedded control system applications.
These MCUS enable developers to accelerate execution in computationally intensive applications such as sensor interfaces and data processing.

"High-speed peripherals and other integration capabilities reduce the need for specific external components, providing high-performance solutions while reducing system complexity."

The PIC32A MCU consists of the MPLAB XC32 compiler, the MPLAB Harmony embedded software development framework, and the dsPIC33A Curiosity The platform development board (EV74H48A) and PIC32AK1216GC41064 Universal DIM (EV25Z08A) provide support. To support functionality expansion, the Curiosity development board is equipped with mikroBUS™ and Xplained Pro interfaces that connect to the built-in self-tested Xplained Pro (BIST XPRO) expansion kit, sensors and various Click boards™.
