Product Overview:
The Allegro ACS756 current Sensor IC series provides an affordable and accurate solution for AC or DC current fluometry in industrial, automotive, commercial and communications systems. Equipment packaging is convenient for user application. Common applications include motor control, load detection and management, and power and overcurrent fault protection.
The device consists of a low-bias precision linear Hall sensor circuit with a copper current path near the surface of the wafer. The current applied through the copper current path generates a magnetic field that can be induced by the integrated Hall IC and converted into a proportional voltage. The device accuracy is optimized by placing the magnetic signal close to the Hall sensor. Precise proportional voltage is provided by the stable chopper type low bias BiCMOS Hall IC, which is factory programmed for precision.
When the current of the primary copper conduction path (for current sensing) is increased (from terminals 4 to 5), the output of the device has a positive slope (>VCC / 2). The typical internal resistance value of this conductive path is 130 μΩ, and the power loss is low.
The thickness of the copper wire allows the device to operate at up to 5 times overcurrent conditions. The terminal of the current path is electrically insulated from the sensor pins (pins 1 to 3). This allows the ACS756 sensor IC series to be used in applications that require electrical insulation without the use of photoinsulators or other expensive insulation technologies.
