The CC2620 device is a wireless microcontroller (MCU) primarily designed for ZigBeeRF4CE remote control applications involving a controller and a target node.
This device is part of the SimpleLink™ CC26xx family of cost-effective, ultra-low power 2.4GHz RF devices. Its extremely low active RF and MCU currents, as well as low-power mode current consumption, ensure excellent battery life and make it suitable for use in small coin cell battery power supplies and energy harvesting applications.
The SimpleLink Bluetooth Low Power CC2620 device contains a 32-bit ARM® Cortex®-M3 core (operating at 48MHz with the main processor) and a rich peripheral feature set, including a unique ultra-low power sensor controller. This sensor controller is ideal for connecting external sensors and for autonomously collecting analogue and digital data while the rest of the system is in sleep mode. This makes the CC2620 ideal for ZigBee RF4CE remote control, supporting voice, motion control, hybrid RF-IR remote control, and capacitive touch qwerty keyboards and STB/target nodes.
The power and clock management of the CC2620 wireless MCU and the wireless system require specific configurations and software handling to operate correctly, which is implemented in TI-RTOS, and TI recommends that this software framework be used for the full application development process for the device.
The IEEE 802.15.4 MAC is embedded in ROM and runs separately on the ARM® Cortex®-M0 processor. This architecture improves overall system performance and power consumption and frees up flash memory for applications.
