Overview

The AD9116BCPZ is a dual-channel, low-power, 12-bit TxDAC digital-to-analog converter (DAC) from Analog Devices. The AD9116BCPZ is designed for high-speed, high-precision signal generation scenarios.


The AD9116BCPZ provides excellent AC and DC performance and supports update rates of up to 125 MSPS. In addition, the AD9116BCPZ has a flexible supply voltage range (1.8V to 3.3V) and low power characteristics, making it ideal for portable and low power applications.


The AD9116BCPZ device is available in a small 40-pin LFCSP package and is RoHS compliant.


Product features

1.8V to 3.3V single power supply; Total power consumption is reduced to 225 mW at 100 MSPS. Low power idle period can enter the sleep mode and power saving mode.

2, LVCMOS clock input: high-speed, single-ended LVCMOS clock input supports 125 MSPS conversion rate.

3, easy interface with other components: Using the adjustable common mode output characteristics of 0 V to 1.2V, you can easily interface with other components whose common mode level is greater than 0 V.

Application scenario

1‌. 5G base station and wireless communication ‌ : AD9116BCPZ is used to generate ‌ intermediate frequency/RF signal ‌, which supports transmission path optimization of the communication system and realizes high dynamic range modulation (such as QPSK and 16-QAM) ‌.

‌2. Satellite communication and microwave transmission ‌ : in the satellite ground station, the AD9116BCPZ converts the baseband digital signal into analog signal, and expands to the microwave frequency band with the up-converter, supporting the modulation requirements ‌ of ‌ low-orbit satellite broadband communication ‌.

3, industrial automation and control system: through SPI or parallel interface and controller (such as FPGA) connection, AD9116BCPZ will digital instructions into analog control signals (such as voltage/current output), drive motor, valves and other actuator ‌.

4, industrial radar and sensing system: in the liquid level detection, material flow monitoring, AD9116BCPZ generates ‌24 GHz FMCW signal ‌, to achieve millimeter-level measurement accuracy (± 0.1mm) ‌.

5. ‌ portable ultrasonic device ‌ : The AD9116BCPZ's low power consumption (sleep mode ‌<3 mW‌) makes it suitable for the battery-powered ‌ handheld ultrasonic probe ‌ to generate high frequency excitation signal (5-20 MHz) and improve imaging resolution.

6. Vector signal generator (VSG) : As the core DAC of the test instrument, the AD9116BCPZ generates complex modulated waveform (such as 5G NR signal) and supports the RF parameter verification of ‌EVM <0.5%‌ ‌.
