Product introduction:

The MPC8548VJAUJD device is based on Power Architecture's 32-bit microprocessor core.At its core it is compatible with older PowerPC Series E specifications as well as power supply ISAv.2.03. It features a dual-threaded, 7-level pipelined FPU (from version 2.0), a 32/32 KiB L1 cache for data and instructions, and a 256,512 or 1024KiB L2 front-end cache. Cores ranging in speed from 533MHz to 1.5GHz are designed for highly configurable embedded application specific requirements and auxiliary application processing units (APUs) to meet functions such as multi-core operations and interfaces.

The E500 is mainly used in the System on a chip (SoC) network processor for high performance PowerQUICC III systems, they all share a common naming scheme, MPC85xx. The new QorIQ series is an evolution of the PowerQUICC III and will also be based on the E500 series kernel.

PowerPC chip with its excellent performance and highly integrated and technologically advanced characteristics in network communication applications, industrial control applications, home digitization, network storage field, military field, power system control and so on have a very wide range of applications.
