AM6411BKCGHAALV Description:

The AM64x is a new industrial-grade heterogeneous Arm® processor product family from Sitara™, built for industrial applications such as motor drives and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) that require a unique combination of real-time processing and communications and application processing.The AM64x combines two TSN technology-enabled Sitara device gigabit PRU-ICSSG instances with up to two Arm® Cortex®-A53 cores, up to four Cortex-R5F MCUs and one Cortex-M4F MCU into one package.


This deterministic architecture allows the AM64x to handle tight control loops in servo drives, while peripherals such as FSI, GPMC, PWM, delta-sigma extraction filters and Peripherals such as FSI, GPMC, PWM, Δ-sigma extraction filters and absolute encoder interfaces help to enable the many different architectures in these systems.


Linux and real-time (RT) Linux are provided through TI's Processor SDK Linux, which is updated annually with the latest Long Term Support (LTS) Linux kernel, bootloader and Yocto file system. The Cortex-A53 can be allocated to work strictly in DDR with Linux, while the internal SRAM can be split into various sizes for combined or individual use with the Cortex-R5F.


The AM64x offers flexible industrial communication capabilities, including a full protocol stack for EtherCAT sub-devices, PROFINET devices, EtherNet/IP adapters and IO-Link masters. the PRU-ICSSG further provides the capabilities required for gigabit and TSN technology based protocols. In addition, the PRU-ICSSG supports other interfaces in the SoC, including Δ-sigma extraction filters and absolute encoder interfaces.


Functional security features can be enabled through the integrated Cortex-M4F and its dedicated peripherals, which can be isolated from the rest of the SoC.

- Dual-core Cortex-A53 clusters (with 256KB L2 shared cache, including SECDED ECC)

- Each A53 core contains 32KB L1 DCache with SECDED ECC and 32KB L1 ICache with parity protection

- Up to 2 dual-core Arm® Cortex®-R5F MCU subsystems operating at up to 800MHz, integrated for real-time processing

- Dual-core Arm® Cortex®-R5F supports dual-core and single-core modes

- 32KB ICache, 32KB DCache and 64KB TCM per R5F core for a total of 256KB TCM, with SECDED ECC on all memories

- 1 single-core Arm® Cortex®-M4F MCU up to 400MHz

- 256KB SRAM with SECDED ECC

- 2 gigabit industrial communication subsystems (PRU_ICSSG)

- Supports Profinet IRT, Profinet RT, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT and Time Sensitive Networks (TSN) etc.

- Backwards compatible with 10/100Mb PRU_ICSS

- Each PRU_ICSSG contains

- 2 Ethernet ports

- MII (10/100)

- RGMII (10/100/1000)

- 6 PRU RISC cores per PRU_ICSSG, and each core has

- Instruction RAM with ECC

- Wide margin RAM

- Multiplier (MAC) with optional accumulator

- CRC16/32 hardware accelerator

- Byte swapping for big/small end byte order conversion

- SUM32 hardware accelerator for UDP checksum

- Task manager with preemption support

- Three data RAMs with ECC

- Eight 30 × 32-bit register staging area memories

- Interrupt controller and task manager

- Two 64-bit Industrial Ethernet Peripherals (IEPs) for timestamps and other time synchronisation functions

- 18 Σ-Δ filters

- Short-circuit logic

- Overcurrent logic

- 6 multi-protocol position encoder interfaces

- One enhanced capture module (ECAP)

- 16550 compatible UART with dedicated 192MHz clock, supporting 12Mbps PROFIBUS
