The NCP1611ADR2G employs an innovative current-controlled frequency foldback (CCFF) approach for driving the PFC boost stage. In this mode, the circuit typically operates in critical conduction mode (CrM) when inductor current exceeds a programmable threshold. As current falls below the preset value, the NCP1611ADR2G linearly attenuates the frequency, reducing to approximately 20kHz when current reaches zero. CCFF technology maximises efficiency under both rated load and light load conditions, notably minimising standby losses. Similar to FCCrM controllers, its internal circuitry maintains near unity power factor even at reduced switching frequencies. Housed in an SO-8 package, this chip integrates all key features required for a robust, compact PFC stage, necessitating minimal external components.
